Burns
There are a number of folk treatments for burns. One 'treatment' is to
cover the burn with butter. This actually may serve to make the burn worse
as it introduces foreign materials (and if the burn is serious, the hospital
will just have to wash it off!). As this website explains the best treatment
for hot burns is to run it under cold water and keep it under there for
a long time (as burns continue even after the heat source is gone). Go

Swallowing
Gum: Does it really 'stick' with you for seven years?
Frankly, considering the amount of gum stuck to the bottoms of chairs
in libraries, movie theatres and food courts around the U.S., I wish that
this article had suggested that gum swallowing had health benefits! In
reality, the concensus seemed to be that it causes no harm, but that it's
better to use the trash can. Read more. Go

but it also is likely to have an impact on your breathing. Poor breathing
leads to feelings of fatigue (because of lower levels of oxygen), poor
health, feelings of anxiety and other bad things. The cure is easy --
take breaks to practice good posture and good breathing. You'll perk right
up! Go

Pet Exposure May Reduce Risk of Allergies in Children

When

It can be difficult to judge when you need medical care for a cut. There
is not an absolute rule about cut length. There are guidelines that will
help you decide what steps you should take. Different situation may require
a trip to the sink to wash it, a trip to your local urgent / emergency

Does
Clipping Coupons really save money?
The answer appears to be: "It depends". If you use the coupons
correctly, you save on the items that you were already going to buy. They
are products that you need and use. If they prompt you to buy new products
(or more than you need), the coupons have done their job (for the product's
manufacturer!) Learn how to use coupons instead of having them use you.

Antibiotics
aren't always the answer
The over prescription of antibiotics is a critical issue that will affect
your family's health. Sometimes illnesses are caused by agents (i.e. bacteria)
that respond to antibiotics -- other illnesses are viral in nature and
can't be cured by antibiotics. Our mis-use (including taking it when you
have a viral cold, and not completeing the entire course because "you
felt better after a couple of days) has resulted in multiple resistant
strains -- i.e. bacteria that is no longer killed by the antibiotics.
Protect the medicinal weapons we have by educating yourself about when
you really need antibiotics. Go
